Flower of Scotland

With the Rugby World Cup about to start, I have no illusions as to who might actually stand a fair chance of winning the cup, but it is always nice to cheer on the little guy. While I'm expecting the usual suspects (Tri-Nations, 6-Nations + Argentina) to put in a good showing, only 4 of those sides really stand a chance... and the others, well, they just make up the numbers really.

I'll support Scotland, I always have, always will, it's just the way I roll. Then again I'm not really South African so I don't feel bad. If it's any consolation, my brother that was born in Scotland supports the Bok's, so that balances things, right?

So today's tune is the official un-official national anthem for all Scottish events, "Flower of Scotland". Sing it proudly, after all, it takes a real man to wear a skirt.

O flower of Scotland
When will we see your like again
That fought and died for
Your wee bit hill and glen
And stood against him
Proud Edward's army
And sent him homeward
Tae think again

The hills are bare now
And autumn leaves lie thick and still
O'er land that is lost now
Which those so dearly held
And stood against him
Proud Edward's army
And sent him homeward
Tae think again

Those days are passed now
And in the past they must remain
But we can still rise now
And be the nation again
That stood against him
Proud Edward's army
And sent him homeward
Tae think again

Well we can hope... but win or lose the boys will put in a good showing.
