Home

Well it's yet another Beerday here at the office. Gotta love themed work days. Today is "Hansel & Gretel" day so I've left a trail of sweets about the office and it seems to be a hit so far.

I've picked a theme tune today that's somewhat based on the Wizard of Oz by Breaking Benjamin simply titled "Home".

I really like this one. While it's got a kind of fairy tale feel I think it really does sum so many things up. While life is full of black and white decisions it's a lot more colourful than that.

This one opens with the sample from the move: "I'll get you my pretty, and your little dog too... Hahahahahahaha..."

I've got a little red bow
And I bought it for you
'Cause I know you're not fair
I don't get it, oh well
And you color my skin
And the colors don't blend
'Cause I'm gonna get you
And your little dog too

There's a yellow brick road
That we follow back home
And I know you can't wait
Your belligerent hate

There's no place like home
There's no place like... home
Like
Home

I've got a southern belle too
In her ruby-red shoes
With a body of straw
Are you sick of it all?
There's a man made of tin
With an oil-can grin
And I'm gonna get you
And your little dog too

There's a yellow brick road
That we follow back home
And I know you can't wait
Your belligerent hate

There's no place like home
There's no place like home

There's a little white porch
And you wanted it so
Can you let me go down
To the end of the road?
In the black and the white
A technicolorful life
Can I stand by your side?
We can make it alright

I'm home

'Cause I'm home
There's a little white porch
And you wanted it so
Can you let me go down
To the end of the road?
In the black and the white
A technicolorful life
Then another arrived
It's a cowardly lion

What I want from this world
What I want to resolve
Well, I want you to stay
So I want you to wait
I don't wanna be bold
I don't wanna be cold
I don't wanna grow old
I wanna go home

I guess that sums it up, I wanna go home.

What I've Done

Trying to get my MP3 player installed in my car. Okay, so I'm no auto-electrician, but I've just had no luck (perhaps I should check the fuses). Anyhow I've been stuck singing anything off of the top of my head each day into and out of work.

Going through all of my MP3's last night I came across this one. While not a massive Linkin Park fan, I do enjoy this one, "What I've Done".

A farewell to an old self. A whole new start...

In this farewell
There's no blood
There's no alibi
Cause I've drawn regret
From the truth
Of a thousand lies

So let mercy come
And wash away

What I've done
I'll face myself
To cross out what I've become
Erase myself
And let go of what I've done

Put to rest
What you thought of me
While I clean this slate
With the hands
Of uncertainty

So let mercy come
And wash away

What I've done
I'll face myself
To cross out what I've become
Erase myself
And let go of what I've done

For what I've done

I'll start again
And whatever pain may come
Today this ends
I'm forgiving what I've done

I'll face myself
To cross out what I've become
Erase myself
And let go of what I've done

What I've done

Forgiving what I've done

I guess I really like this one because I suppose the most difficult person to forgive is yourself.

Once Upon a December

Not really sure why this one popped into my head this morning. Guess I'm still thinking back to a December a few years back. Memories fade... But I'm trying to hang on.

This one comes from the animated movie, Anastasia as she's trying to piece her past together.

Dancing bears,
Painted wings,
Things I almost remember,
And a song someone sings
Once upon a December.

Someone holds me safe and warm.
Horses prance through a silver storm.
Figures dancing gracefully
Across my memory...

Far away, long ago,
Glowing dim as an ember,
Things my heart
Used to know,
Once Upon A December...

Someone holds me safe and warm.
Horses prance through a silver storm.
Figures dancing gracefully
Across my memory...

Far away, long ago,
Glowing dim as an ember,
Things my heart
Used to know,
Things it yearns to remember...

And a song
Someone sings
Once upon a December

Some of my favourite stories begin, once upon a December.

Living on the Edge

With the weekend coming to an end (but tomorrow being a holiday) I'm constantly reminded of a saying an old friend had, "Live on the edge, that way they can only screw you from 3 sides!"

Can't really argue with that one. Although it is a far cry from the old saying, "If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space."

"Living on the Edge" an all time favourite of mine by Aerosmith. While there's been a lot of talk of the band changing, they have had the same lineup for like, ever. I'm still wanting to get "Guitar Hero: Aerosmith" for my Wii.

There's somethin' wrong with the world today
I don't know what it is
Something's wrong with our eyes

We're seeing things in a different way
And God knows it ain't His
It sure ain't no surprise

We're livin' on the edge
We're livin' on the edge
We're livin' on the edge
We're livin' on the edge

There's somethin' wrong with the world today
The light bulb's gettin' dim
There's meltdown in the sky

If you can judge a wise man
By the color of his skin
Then mister you're a better man that I

We're livin' on the edge
You can't help yourself from fallin'
Livin' on the edge
You can't help yourself at all
Livin' on the edge
You can't stop yourself from fallin'
Livin' on the edge

Tell me what you think about your sit-u-a-tion
Complication - aggravation
Is getting to you

If chicken little tells you that the sky is fallin'
Even if it wasn't would you still come crawlin'
Back again?
I bet you would my friend
Again & again & again & again & again

Tell me what you think about your sit-u-a-tion
Complication - aggravation
Is getting to you

If chicken little tells you that the sky is fallin'
Even if it was would would you still come crawlin'
Back again?
I bet you would my friend
Again & again & again & again

There's something right with the world today
And everybody knows it's wrong
But we can tell 'em no or we could let it go
But I would rather be a hanging on

Livin' On the Edge
You can't help yourself from fallin'
Livin' On the Edge
You can't help yourself at all
Livin' On the Edge
You can't stop yourself from fallin'
Livin' On the Edge
Livin' On the Edge
Livin' On the Edge
Livin' On the Edge
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Livin' On the Edge
You can't help yourself from fallin'
Livin' On the Edge
You can't help yourself at all
Livin' on the edge
You can't stop yourself from fallin'
Livin' on the edge
Livin' on the edge
You can't help yourself
You can't help yourself
Livin' On the Edge
You can't help yourself at all
Livin' On the Edge
You can't help yourself
You can't help yourself
Livin' On the Edge
You can't help yourself
You can't help yourself
Livin' On the Edge
You can't help yourself from fallin'
Livin' On the Edge
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, you got to that now

I think that the things in the world that are right simply scare most folk. But they're worth hanging onto.

Are You Drinking With Me Jesus

Well Friday has traditionally been "Beerday" where a few tasty beverages are enjoyed. There have been jobs where basically from lunchtime onwards we have a few cold ones and do a little social chatting. Generally I've found that it is great for overall morale of the company.

Today's tune comes from the soundtrack of one of the most bizarre 1st person "Shoot 'em up" games, Redneck Rampage. Somehow it just seems fitting today.

I saw you sittin' there
I was tryin' not to stare
I wasn't sure if it was you
I didn't know just what to do

Are you drinkin' with me Jesus
I can't see you very clear
Are you drinkin' with me Jesus
Would you buy a friend a beer

As I nestled on my barstool
I felt your warmness within
I looked down at my pants
That wasn't warmness
I wet myself again

Are you drinkin' with me Jesus
I can't see you very clear
Are you drinkin' with me Jesus
Would you buy a friend a beer

Does your head pound, Jesus
As hung over you do rise
How does paradise look, Jesus
Through holy bloodshot eyes

Should we take a cab home Jesus
Man, we can hoof it from here
I know you can walk on the water
But can you walk on this much beer

Are you drinkin' with me Jesus
I can't see you very clear

'Cmon Jesus, buy a friend a beer!

Someone's Watching Over Me

This one takes me back a few years. While I'm far from religious myself, I believe that we keep a bit of everyone that we hold dear with us, even long after they are gone. Some might be philosophical, others might liken it to the Borg assimilating everyone in Star Trek.

I guess I just add them to those voices that already occupy my mind. Some have over the years have become leaders, others inspiration, some the support and drive for better things, awesome things and the occasional voice of reason.

I guess as Hilary Duff put it, "Someone's Watching Over Me".

I found myself today,
Oh I found myself and ran away,
something pulled me back,
Voice of reason I forgot I had,
All I know is your not here to say,
What you always used to say,
But it's written in the sky tonight

So I won't give up,
no I won't break down,
sooner than it seems life turns around,
and I will be strong
even if it all goes wrong,
when I'm standing in the dark I'll still believe,
someone's watching over me

Seen that ray of light,
and it's shining on my destiny
shining all the time
and I won't be afraid
to follow everywhere it's taking me
all I know is yesterday is gone
and right now I belong
to this moment, to my dreams

So I won't give up,
no I wont' break down,
sooner than it seems life turns around,
and I will be strong
even if it all goes wrong
when I'm standing in the dark I'll still believe
someone's watching over me

what does it mean

It doesn't matter what people say
and it doesn't matter how long it takes
believe in yourself and you'll fly, high,
and it only matters how true you are
be true to yourself and follow your heart

So I won't give up,
no I wont' break down,
sooner than it seems life turns around,
and I will be strong
even if it all goes wrong
when I'm standing in the dark I'll still believe...

That I won't give up,
no I wont' break down,
sooner than it seems life turns around,
and I will be strong
even when it all goes wrong
when I'm standing in the dark I'll still believe....

that someone's watching over
someone's watching over
someone's watching over me
yeah yeah oh-OH...

Among the voices, the voice of reason always remains calm. Someone really is watching over me.

Life Is Too Short

While I'm not a big fan of the Scorpions they have written some great stuff.

This particular one takes me back a good few years. I woke up early to see my grandfather off. While I can't recall a sunrise before or after that morning, I managed to watch the sunrise that morning, it was absolutely picture perfect.

Have you ever seen the morning?
When the sun comes up the shore
And the silence makes the beauty for a sound

Have you ever sat there waiting?
For the time to stand still
For all the world to stop
From turning around

And you run
'Cause life is too short
And you run
'Cause life is too short

Have you ever seen the glowing?
When the moon is on the rise
And the dreams are close
To the ones that we love

Have you ever sat there waiting?
For heaven to give a sign
So we could find the place
Where angels come from

And you run (and you run)
'Cause life is too short
And you run (and you run)
'Cause life is too short

There’s a time that turns
Turn back time
But I don’t say I can
It only works
If you believe in the truth

But there’s a time to leave
And a time to cry
But if you’re by my side
I will try to catch a star
I’ll try to catch a star
Just for you

And I run
'Cause life is too short
And I run (and I run)
'Cause life is too short

And I run And I run And I run And I run And I run…

Yes, silence does make the beauty of a sound.

Alone You Breathe

Loss is something we all have to go through. I'm not sure who wrote that script because it just sucks.

Another absolute classic from Savatage, "Alone You Breathe". This was written by Jon Oliva as a tribute to his brother who was killed in a car crash (hit by a drunken driver - do not drink and drive!).

You were never one for waiting
Still I always thought you'd wait for me
And have you from your dreams awakened
And from where you are what do you see

Which of us is now in exile
Which in need of amnesty
Are you now but an illusion
In my mind alone you breathe

You believed in things that I will never know
You were out there drowning but it never showed
Till inside a rainswept night you just let go

You've thrown it all away
And now we'll never see the ending to the play
The grand design, the final line
And what was meant to be

In the dark a distant runner
Now has disappeared into the night
Leaving us to stand and wonder
Staring from this end into your life

You believed in things that I will never know
You were out there drowning but it never showed
'Til inside a rainswept night you just let go

You've thrown it all away
And now we'll never see the ending to the play
The grand design, the final line
And what was meant to be

And if this is all illusion
Nothing more than pure delusion
Clinging to a fading fantasy
Like Icarus who heeds the calling
Of a sun but now is falling
As the feathers of his life fall free
Can you see
See

Tomorrow and after
You tell me what am I to do
I stand here believing
That in the dark there is a clue

Perhaps inside this midnight sky
Perhaps tomorrow's newborn eyes
Or could it be, we'll never know
And after all this was the show

What am I to do
Gotta get back
Gotta get back
Gotta get back
What am I to do
Gotta get back
Gotta get back
Gotta get back
What am I to do

Standing on a dream isn't what it seems
Could we then reclaim a dream refused
Knowing what we know could we let it go
Realizing that all the years are used

Tomorrow and after
You tell me what am I to do
I stand here believing
That in the dark there is a clue
I am the way, I am the light
I am the dark inside the night
I hear your hopes, I feel your dreams
And in the dark I hear your screams

Tomorrow and after
You tell me what am I to do
I stand here believing
That in the dark there is a clue

Tomorrow... and after... I guess we'll just have to keep believing that we'll get through.

Back to a Reason

Back to one of my favourite band. This one comes from the album, "Poets and Madmen". This story follows a photographer who witnesses some pretty awful things and descends into his own madness. I guess we're all there to some degree. Once something has been seen, it can't be unseen.

In this case he's hanging onto something. Trying to cling to that last bit of sanity or at least grasping out for it.

Time
Standing all alone
I bled for you
I wanted to
Each drop my own

Slowly they depart
But fall in vain
Like desert rain
And still they fall on and on and on

Got to get back to a reason
Got to get back to a reason i once knew
And this late in the seasons
One by one distractions fade from view

So
Drifting through the dark
The sympathy
Of night's mercy
Inside my heart
Is your life the same
Do ghosts cry tears
Do they feel years
As time just goes on and on and on

Got to get back to a reason
Got to get back to a reason i once knew
And this late in the seasons
One by one distractions fade from view

Years come around
Men can be found
Following orders
Years come around
Planning is sound
Promises made
Years come around
Tears on the ground
Blood stains the borders
Leaders abound
Chances are down
No one's been saved

Give me one reason
For this dark treason
Every chance unsaid
Turn around
All dead
What went wrong

(various international news reports)

Give me one reason
For this dark treason
Every chance unsaid
Turn around
All dead
What went wrong

Drink until you drown
What else can I say
When you're falling down
You seek the ground
It's never far away

Can you live your life
Completely in a fall
Until you're found
Well underground
Your marker very small

As my world it keeps on spinning round

Have to get away
Have to ease the pain
I embrace the morphine child
And pump it in my veins

Burning through my heart
Fills in every hole
Makes my mind so blissful numb
And replaces my soul

Every moment drags me further
Down down down down down down...

Got to get back to a reason
Got to get back to a reason I once knew
And this late in the seasons
One by one distractions fade from view
The only reason I have left...
Is you

I guess we all need that one thing to focus on... Thankfully I have that.

Coma White

I've always enjoyed Marilyn Manson, mostly because I think he has to be the greatest satirist of at least my time. Well, that is what I get from the Mechanical Animals album.

I guess you can get just about any meaning from any song if you look for it. I just love the lines, "But all drugs in this world, won't save her from herself". I think we've moved into a society where there are far too many quick fixes. Where people honestly believe a pill can fix just about anything without having to do any of the hard work themselves.

There,s something cold and blank behind her smile
She's standing on an overpass
In her miracle mile

"You were from a perfect world
A world that threw me away today
Today today to run away"

A pill to make you numb
A pill to make you dumb
A pill to make you anybody else
But all the drugs in this world
Won't save her from herself

Her mouth was an empty cut
And she was waiting to fall
Just bleeding like a polaroid that
Lost all her dolls
(coma):
"You were from a perfect world
A world that threw me away today
Today to run away

A pill to make you numb
A pill to make you dumb
(chorus repeat)

The only one that can save you from yourself is you.

I Won't Back Down

Well... here we are, time ticks by and I'll still putting pieces together.

No matter how tough things may seem, the same attitude simply has to be carried through - Don't back down! It was

Tom Petty pretty much sums up how I feel about a lot of things right about now. I'd face anyone, anything and I'm not afraid, I will be defiant - "I Won't Back Down"

Well I won't back down, no I won't back down
You can stand me up at the gates of hell
But I won't back down

Gonna stand my ground, won't be turned around
And I'll keep this world from draggin' me down
Gonna stand my ground and I won't back down

Hey baby, there ain't no easy way out
Hey I will stand my ground
And I won't back down

Well I know what's right, I got just one life
In a world that keeps on pushin' me around
But I'll stand my ground and I won't back down

Hey baby there ain't no easy way out
Hey I will stand my ground
And I won't back down
No, I won't back down

I'm going to stand my ground, and I won't back down.

Push It

Todays tune I'm picking purely because of the music video. It's just so bizarre, but then again, so is life right?

I just love Garbage, they really stick out as being somewhat unique. I reckon Shirley has to be one of the best vocalists that I've heard in a long, long time.

I was angry when I met you
I think I'm angry still
We can try to talk it over
If you say you'll help me out

Don't worry baby (don't worry baby)
No need to fight
Don't worry baby (don't worry baby)
We'll be alright

This is the noise that keeps me awake
My head explodes and my body aches
Push it, make the beats go harder
Push it, make the beats go harder

I'm sorry that I hurt you
Please don't ask me why
I want to see you happy
I want to see you shine

Don't worry baby (don't worry baby)
Don't be uptight
Don't worry baby (don't worry baby)
We'll stay up all night

C'mon push it, you can do it
C'mon prove it, nothing to it
C'mon use it, let's get through it
C'mon push it, you can do it

Don't worry baby (don't worry baby)
Don't be uptight
Don't worry baby (don't worry baby)
We'll stay up all night

Don't worry baby
We'll be alright
Don't worry baby
We'll be alright

Don't worry baby
We'll be alright
Don't worry baby
We'll be alright

Don't worry baby
We'll be alright
Don't worry baby
We'll be alright

Push it
Push it
Push it
Push it
Push it.

Reckon that music video is about as disjointed as my life. Gotta love it!

Furry Happy Monsters

Well far too many serious moments, so here is a much lighter note (pun intended).

This is a classic, mostly because I'm a huge Muppet's fan (Who doesn't love Animal?). But this was REM and Kate Pierson (of the B-52's) who teamed up yet again for a special once off performance.

monsters having fun, happy, happy
see them jump and run, happy, happy
laughing all the while, cheerful, cheerful
flashing a big smile, that's a per-fect sign
that they're feelin' fine
furry happy monsters feeling glad
(furry happy monsters feeling glad)
furry happy monsters laughing

something has gone wrong, sighing, sighing
faces have turned long, crying, crying
hear them sob and whine, tearful, tearful
that's a real good sign that they're feelin' glum
sad, sad times have come

(same order as before)
furry sobbing monsters feeling sad
furry sobbing monsters feeling sad
furry sobbing monsters crying

"come on monsters, you don't have to cry!"
monsters: "no?"
"no! we can be happy!!!"

furry happy monsters feeling glad
furry happy monsters feeling glad
furry happy monsters laughing
furry sobbing monsters feeling sad
furry sobbing monsters feeling sad
furry sobbing monsters crying
(glad and laughing again)
monsters, happy monsters
monsters, happy monsters

If sobbing monsters feeling sad can be happy... so can we all.

The Dark

"The Dark" by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra (a side project by Savatage) is a tune I've had stuck in my head. This one comes from Beethoven's Last Night as he sits waiting for the Devil to return.

This entire album is absolutely brilliant and despite some rather deep sombre moments, it offers hope for all.

This one is sung by the muses. As his life is quickly coming to an end he's sitting alone in the silence - not only caused by his deafness, but also from deep in his heart. A life of regret, despite all that he had brought to the world.

FEEL THE DARKNESS SMILING
EVERY NOTE IS DYING
SILENCE IS REFINING
EVERY THOUGHT IN HIS HEART

STILL THE FATES ARE WEAVING
EVERY NOTE THAT'S BLEEDING
AS HE SITS THERE SEETHING
ALL ALONE IN THE DARK
ALONE IN THE DARK
ALONE IN THE ...

BUT IN THE NIGHT
THE DARKNESS BREATHES
IF HE WILLS IT TO BE

BEFORE HIS EYES
THE MUSIC DIES
BUT HE WILL ALWAYS HEAR ME

HE SITS ALONE
THE CARDS ARE SHOWN
AS HE EMBRACES THE DARK

THE ONLY SOUND
THAT HE WILL HEAR
IS THERE IN HIS HEART

SOMEONE IS WHISPERING SOFTLY TO ME
SHADOWS OF THINGS THAT NO ONE CAN SEE
THEY ARE THERE FOR YOU IF YOU WANT THEM TO BE
YOU WANT THEM TO BE
YOU WANT THEM TO....

BUT IN THE NIGHT
THE DARKNESS BREATHES
IF HE WILLS IT TO BE

BEFORE HIS EYES
THE MUSIC DIES
BUT HE WILL ALWAYS HEAR ME

HE SITS ALONE
THE CARDS ARE SHOWN
AS HE EMBRACES THE DARK

THE ONLY SOUND
THAT HE WILL HEAR
IS THERE IN HIS HEART

Silence is magic, but never forget the song in your heart.

Funeral of Tears

This one sounds rather glum, but actually I find it somewhat liberating. As with so many songs it's your own personal interpretation that really gives it meaning.

"Funeral of Tears" by Regicide is another classic. I like the fact that the end can be a new beginning. After all, every beginning comes from some other beginnings end.

This is the funeral of tears
I exile the last sad years
Future's coming over me
But there's not much hope to see

So just look up – up to the sun
The end can be a new beginning
So just wake up – don't defy your life
Look out, don't be misleaded

Stop the rain...

A fog creeps through my brain
Befuddles without shame
No lights anywhere to see
So this might comes over me

So just look up – up to the sun
The end can be a new beginning
So just wake up – don't defy your life
Look out, don't be misleaded

Yes, I look up – but where's the sun
It's the beginning of the end
Well, I'm asleep – defy my life
I look inside and I'm misleaded

Without further ado this feeling surrounds you

But it's as small as pebble running down a wall
What a cliff is this I must jump onto
What a misery I am going through

So just look up – up to the sun
The end can be a new beginning
So just wake up – don't defy your life
Look out, don't be misleaded

I'm having a funeral for all of these tears. The end... is just another beginning.

Edge of Thorns

Okay, so I'll eventually work my way through every Savatage song in time but this is yet another brilliant track. This time it's a keyboard intro (I am a sucker for anything on keys) and the gradual build up over the track is amazing.

"Edge of Thorns", the last album that Cris Oliva ever worked on. An absolute masterpiece if you ask me, but I am biased.

I guess it's time to get over it. Move on... stop offering the time.

An offering of reasons
We put them all away
A covering of treasons
That one by one we let slip away

A solitary dancer
So lost upon her stage

I have seen you on the edge of dawn
Felt you there before you were born
Balanced your dreams upon the edge of thorns
But I don't think about you anymore

A study made of winter
Of summers long ago
And dreams that use to glitter
Safely now hidden under snow

And so we end this chapter
And let the stage lights fade

I have seen you on the edge of dawn
Felt you there before you were born
Balanced your dreams upon the edge of thorns
But I don't think about you anymore

Closing a chapter, and I'm not letting the lights fade. I'll be turning out the lights myself.

All That I Bleed

Another classic from the greatest band ever. "All That I Bleed" has been described in part as a "prayer for the release from the pain that each of us eventually goes through".

This is one of the more moving pieces that I've had the pleasure to hear. I'm really a sucker for a piano intro. This one works fantastically as a full rocked track or acoustic piece.

Someone
Got themselves a letter
In the mail the other day
It's already worn and tattered
And I guess
It gives away

All the things we keep inside
All the things that really matter
The face puts on it's best disguise
And all is well
Until the heart
Betrays

She knows
As she reads her letter
That things were bound to stray
Winds blow
She pulls her coat tighter
And the letter flies away

With all the things she keeps inside
All the things that really matter
The face puts on it's best disguise
And all is well
Until the heart betrays

Lord bring on the night
Wrap it all around me
Let it hold me tight
Soak up all that I bleed

Lord bring on the night
Wrap it all around me
Let it hold me tight
Soak up all that I bleed

And I'll fly away
Yeah I'll fly away
Yeah I'll fly away
Watch me

Lord bring on the night
Wrap it all around me
Let it hold me tight
Soak up all that I bleed, yeah yeah

I bleed

I think I'll keep my disguise on for as long as I can...

Believe

Well, I'm still without any news from Telkom as to my next installation date. So hopefully will be able to post workdays if no other time.

This brings me to easily one of the greatest songs ever penned. Believe by Savatage. This is the climatic end to the Streets album. A turning point, final redemption. To simply be able to save ones self.

So after all these one night stands
You've ended up with heart in hand
A child alone
On your own
Retreating
Regretful for the things you're not
And all dreams you haven't got
Without a home
A heart of stone
Lies bleeding

And for all the roads you followed
And for all you did not find
And for all the things you had to leave behind

I am the way
I am the light
I am the dark inside the night
I hear your hopes
I feel your dreams
And in the dark
I hear your screams
Don't turn away
Just take my hand
And when you make your final stand
I'll be right there
I'll never leave
All I ask of you
Believe
Your childhood eyes were so intense
While bartering your innocence
For bits of string
Grown-up wings
You needed

But when you had to add them up
You found that they were not enough
To get you in
Pay for sins repeated

And for all the years you borrowed
And for all the tears you cried
And for all the fears you had to keep inside

I am the way
I am the light
I am the dark inside the night
I hear your hopes
I feel your dreams
And in the dark
I hear your screams
Don't turn away
Just take my hand
And when you make your final stand
I'll be right there
I'll never leave
And all I ask of you is
Believe

I never wanted to know
Never wanted to see
I wasted my time
Till time wasted me
Never wanted to go
Always wanted to stay
'Cause the person I am
Are the parts that I play
So I plot and I plan
Hope and I scheme
To the lure of a night
Filled with unfinished dreams
And I'm holding on tight
To a world gone astray
As they charge me for years
I can't pay

I am the way
I am the light
I am the dark inside the night
I hear your hopes
I feel your dreams
And in the dark
I hear your screams Don't turn away
Just take my hand
And when you make your final stand
I'll be right there
I'll never leave
And all I ask of you is
Believe

Believe

I might not always seem to be around... but I'll be there when I'm needed.
