At a time when the world is going mad over the world cup (I mean, who isn't?) Just a quick note to point out.
Some of the greatest hero's you'll ever come across are ordinary folk. Never forget that... When you're needing a hero there's often one a lot closer than you'd think.
"My Hero" by Foo Fighters celebrates this idea.
Too alarming now to talk about
Take your pictures down and shake it out
Truth or consequence, say it aloud
Use that evidence, race it around
There goes my hero
Watch him as he goes
There goes my hero
He's ordinary
Don't the best of them bleed it out
While the rest of them peter out
Truth or consequence, say it aloud x2
Use that evidence, race it around
There goes my hero
Watch him as he goes
There goes my hero
He's ordinary
kudos my hero leaving all the best
You know my hero, the one that's on
There goes my hero
Watch him as he goes
There goes my hero
He's ordinary
There goes my hero
Watch him as he goes
There goes my hero
He's ordinary
Just keep watching.

What a beautiful song Robbie! I love that ordinary can be so very special!
ReplyDeleteAll hero's are ordinary folk - even the ones in the comic books. We all have it in us and this is a great point to remember when feeling down. We all have the potential to be a hero - our own. Thanks for this post, Rob.
