Put Your Lights On

Today's song I dug about a bit for. This is from "Supernatural" which was a collaboration album with Carlos Santana inviting several other musicians to perform with him.

"Put Your Lights On" includes Everlast who really adds a lot of deep soul to the track.

What I really like about this track is the call for all to simply shine. No matter who you are or what you may be. Keep the monsters at bay by simply being that light that brightens all.

Hey now, all you sinners
Put your lights on, put your lights on
Hey now, all you lovers
Put your lights on, put your lights on

Hey now, all you killers
Put your lights on, put your lights on
Hey now, all you children
Leave your lights on, you better leave your lights on

Cause there's a monster living under my bed
Whispering in my ear
There's an angel, with a hand on my head
She say I've got nothing to fear

There's a darkness living deep in my soul
I still got a purpose to serve
So let your light shine, deep into my home
God, don't let me lose my nerve
Don't let me lose my nerve

Hey now, hey now, hey now, hey now
Wo oh hey now, hey now, hey now, hey now

Hey now, all you sinners
Put your lights on, put your lights on
Hey now, all you children
Leave your lights on, you better leave your lights on

Because there's a monster living under my bed
Whispering in my ear
There's an angel, with a hand on my head
She say's I've got nothing to fear
She says: La illaha illa Allah
We all shine like stars
She says: La illaha illa Allah
We all shine like stars
Then we fade away

Sometimes the light comes from others, but let it light the way.

Peaches

Had a few rather serious tunes in my head this morning on my trip into the office but have thankfully been reminded of this little ditty.

"Peaches" by Presidents of the United States is one that you'd enjoy even more having seen the video. While open to much interpretation I'm going to say that picking country peaches may be a little easier than in the city? ;)

movin' to the country gonna eat a lot of peaches
i'm movin' to the country i'm gonna eat me a lot of peaches
i'm movin' to the country i'm gonna eat a lot of peaches
movin' to the country i'm gonna eat a lot of peaches
peaches come from a can they were put there by a man
in a factory downtown
if i had my little way i'd eat peaches everyday
sun soakin bulges in the shade

movin' to the country i'm gonna eat a lot of peaches
movin' to the country i'm gonna eat a lot of peaches
i'm movin to the country gonna eat a lot of peaches
movin' to the country gonna eat a lot of peaches

i took a little nap where the roots all twist
squished a rotten peach in my fist
and dreamed about you woman
i poked my finger down inside make a little room for a ant to hide
nature's candy in my hand or can or pie

Yeah, Yeah

Yeah, Yeah
millions of peaches peaches for me
millions of peaches peaches for free
millions of peaches peaches for me
millions of peaches peaches for free

look out

millions of peaches peaches for me
millions of peaches peaches for free
millions of peaches peaches for me
millions of peaches peaches for free

Regardless I want to see ninja's just jump out of the trees. Trust me, find the video.

Stay

Spent a lot of time watching movies this weekend. Seems that for some bizarre reason 40min was enough for Saturday night. Oh well... Moving between two movies in particular, "The Machinist and "Reality Bites".

The Machinist became somewhat predictable about half way in, but for me it really hit home that the poor guy hadn't slept in so, so very long. I his case, it would seem he'd committed an atrocity that he was unable to sleep. Eventually as everything unravels he finally falls asleep in the end. Wonder what I may have to do to get some sleep?

"Reality Bites" is one of those off the wall movies with random folk interacting with each other. It's a food example of how we can so often spend so much time looking in when we really should be taking a bit more notice of things around me.

"Stay" by Lisa Loeb is taken from Reality Bites and really made me think of what it is that I truly see. Is all I hear and see just what I want to?

You say I only hear what I want to
You say I talk so all the time so

And I thought what I felt was simple
And I thought that I don't belong
And now that I am leaving
Now I know that I did something wrong 'cause I missed you
Yeah yeah, I missed you

You say I only hear what I want to:
I don't listen hard, don't pay attention to the distance that you're running
To anyone, anywhere
I don't understand if you really care,
I'm only hearing negative
No, No, No, Bad

So I, I turned the radio on, I turned the radio up (turn the radio)
And this woman was singing my song:
Lover's in love and the other's run away
Lover is crying 'cause the other won't stay
Some of us hover when we weep for the other who was
Dying since the day they were born
Well, well, this is not that
I think that I'm throwing, but I'm thrown

And I thought I'd live forever, but now I'm not so sure
You try to tell me that I'm clever
But that won't take me anyhow, or anywhere with you

You said that I was naive and I thought that I was strong
I thought, "hey, I can leave, I can leave."
Oh, but now I know that I was wrong, 'cause I missed you
Yeah, I miss you

You said, "You caught me 'cause you want me and one day you'll let me go
"You try to give away a keeper, or keep me
'Cause you know you're just so scared to lose
And you say, "Stay."

You say I only hear what I want to

Do we only hear what we want to, desperately searching for a little rest when what we need to do is truly face reality, no matter what that may be.

Moment for Life

"Moment for Life" by Nicki Minaj is today's song.

There are two lines that really stick in my mind from this one, "Greatness is what we on the brink of" and "Cause everybody dies but not everybody lives". Ultimately we're all sitting on the edge of being awesome but for some, they never really take that last step. Years later when opportunity may have passed, many may reach an end and realise that they never really lived (well, not to the full greatness that they could have).

This theme is also present in the movie Treasure Planet when John Silver says of Jim Hawkins: "You got the makings of greatness in you, but you gotta take the helm and chart your own course! Stick to it, no matter the squalls! And when the time comes, you'll get the chance to really test the cut of your sails and show what you're made of! And... well, I hope I'm there, catching some of the light coming off you that day."

We all have the making of greatness, sometimes we need to be the one charting a course, or at times simply catching a bit of light because sometimes that's the best way to see forward.

I fly with the stars in the skies
I am no longer trying to survive
I believe that life is a prize
But to live doesn't mean you're alive
Don't worry 'bout me and who I fire
I get what I desire, it's my empire
And yes I call the shots, I am the umpire
I sprinkle holy water upon the vampire
In this very moment I'm king
In this very moment I slay Goliath with the sling
In this very moment I bring, put it on everything
I will retire with the ring
And I will retire with the crown, yes
No, I'm not lucky, I'm blessed, yes
Clap for the heavy weight champ, me
But I couldn't do it all alone, we
Young money raised me, threw about and praised me
South side Jamaica, Queens and it's crazy
Cause I'm still hood, Hollywood couldn't change me
Shout out to my haters, sorry
That you couldn't phase me
Ain't being cocky, we just being sophisticated
Best believe that what we done this moment
Will by syndicated, I don't know
This night just remind me of
Everything they deprived me of
Put your drinks up
It's a celebration every time we link up
We done did everything they could think of
Greatness is what we on the brink of

Wish that I could have this moment
For life, for life, for life
Cause in this moment I just feel so
Alive, alive, alive

Wish that I could have this moment
For life, for life, for life
Cause in this moment I just feel so
Alive, alive, alive

When I tell them hoes bow, bow, bow to me
Drop down to your knees
Young Money, the mafia, that's what the world sees
I'm in a Dominican, they call me Ortiz
Throwing talk at all these pregnant bitches
Just aiming at 'em to please
Shout out to the C.O, 500 degrees
Shout out to the Homie though we on separate teams
Niggas wanna be friends, I could waste the denim
It was supposed to be all year
We didn't get the memo
A young king, pay me in gold
Forty got a bunch of weed, he ain't even rolled
These niggas be dropping sounds
They ain't even cold
Wheezy on top and that nigga ain't even home
Yet, yeah, be very afraid
These other rappers getting bodied & carried away
Fuck it, me and Nicki may get married today
And all the bitches that be
Hating can catch the bouquet
Ooh, yeah, you a star in my eyes
You and all them white girls, party of five
Are we drinking a little more alcohol, you decide
I can't believe we really made it
I'm partly surprised
I swear, damn, this one for the books
Man, I swear this shit as fun as it looks, man
I'm really trying to make it more than what it is
Cause everybody dies but not everybody lives

Wish that I could have this moment
For life, for life, for life
Cause in this moment I just feel so
Alive, alive, alive

Wish that I could have this moment
For life, for life, for life
Cause in this moment I just feel so
Alive, alive, alive

This is my moment
I waited all my
Life, I can tell it's time
Drifting away, I'm
One with the sunsets
I have become alive

Wish that I could have this moment
For life, for life, for life
Cause in this moment I just feel so
Alive, alive, alive

Wish that I could have this moment
For life, for life, for life
Cause in this moment I just feel so
Alive, alive, alive

There's only one way to truly feel alive... that's simply to live.

Bob

You just can't beat Weird Al, the guy is quite simply a genius.

Bob is Weird Al's parody of the Bob Dylan track "Subterranean Homesick Blues". It is quite simply a song that's started with the palindrome "Bob" and the entire song can be read line for line backwards. Only Weird Al could come up with something that seems so random yet really does fit the whole theme that has been Bob's career to date.

I, man, am regal a German am I
Never odd or even
If I had a hi-fi
Madam, I'm Adam
Too hot to hoot
No lemons, no melon
Too bad I hid a boot
Lisa Bonet ate no basil
Warsaw was raw
Was it a car or a cat I saw?

Rise to vote, sir
Do geese see God?
"Do nine men interpret?" "Nine men," I nod
Rats live on no evil star
Won't lovers revolt now?
Race fast, safe car
Pa's a sap
Ma is as selfless as I am
May a moody baby doom a yam?

Ah Satan sees Natasha
No devil lived on
Lonely Tylenol
Not a banana baton
No "x" in "Nixon"
O, stone, be not so
O Geronimo, no minor ego
"Naomi", I moan
"A Toyota's a Toyota"
A dog, a panic in a pagoda

Oh, no! Don Ho!
Nurse, I spy gypsies -- run!
Senile felines
Now I see bees I won
UFO tofu
We panic in a pew
Oozy rat in a sanitary zoo
God! A red nugget! A fat egg under a dog!
Go hang a salami, I'm a lasagna hog

I've never had UFO tofu... should I try it sometime? But no matter what, A Toyota's a Toyota.

Sweet Child of Mine

Originally a Guns 'n Roses track, I have to confess that while panned by man I prefer the Sheryl Crow cover of "Sweet Child of Mine". Not to mention I just love her hair.

Essentially nothing more than a poem set to a tuning riff, but possibly the 'Roses greatest hit. Funny how the simplest things often have the greatest impact.

Originally written for Axl's girlfriend, Sheryl's version was used in the movie "Big Daddy". Possibly another reason I prefer her version as it does seem to change meaning. Ultimately I just loved the way in the movie the grown up has to grow up a bit to better look after the little kid, but without having to lose any childhood charm

She's got a smile that it seems to me
Reminds me of childhood memories
Where everything
Was as fresh as the bright blue sky
Now and then when I see her face
she takes me away to that special place
And if I stare too long
I'd probably break down and cry

woah oh oh
Sweet child o' mine
woah oh oh oh
Sweet love of mine

(short guitar solo)

She's got eyes of the bluest skies
As if they thought of rain
I hate to look into those eyes
And see an ounce of pain
Her hair reminds me of a warm safe place
Where as a child I'd hide
And pray for the thunder
And the rain
To quietly pass me by

woah oh oh
Sweet child o' mine
woah oh oh oh
Sweet love of mine

(short guitar solo)

woah oh oh oh
Sweet child o' mine
woah oh oh
Sweet love of mine

woah oh oh oh
Sweet child o' mine
woah oh oh
Sweet love of mine

(guitar solo)

Where do we go
Where do we go now
Where do we go
Where do we go

Where do we go now
Where do we go now
Where do we go
Sweet child o' mine
o Where do we go now
ah ah aiai ai ai
Where do we go now
Where do we go

Where do we go now
Where do we go now
where do we go
where do we go now
now now now now now now now
sweet child
sweet child of mine

Little people remains awesome and continue to remind me of the good childhood memories.

1000 Miles

I'm still a sucker for anything that's rocked out on a piano. It's easily the greatest of all instruments, well, at least I think so.

"1,000 Miles" by Vanessa Carlton has to be one of those that really sticks with you for a while. Just how far would you go to find someone that's been lost?

How far would I be willing to go? Well, every journey starts with a single step, after that who's really counting. As long as you eventually get there. I'm still not so sure that time heals, but perhaps it is each step of those thousand miles that really does the job.

Alternatively you can always try the Vanilla Sky cover of this song. As an Italian band their pronunciation is terrible, but you still get the song.

Making my way downtown
I'm walking fast
Faces passed
And I'm home bound

Staring blankly ahead
Just making my way
Making a way
Through the crowd

And I need you
And I miss you
And now I wonder....

If I could fall
Into the sky
Do you think time
Would pass me by
'Cause you know I'd walk
A thousand miles
If I could
Just see you
Tonight

It's always times like these
When I think of you
And I wonder
If you ever
Think of me

'Cause everything's so wrong
And I don't belong
Living in your
Precious memories

'Cause I need you
And I miss you
And now I wonder....

If I could fall
Into the sky
Do you think time
Would pass me by
'Cause you know I'd walk
A thousand miles
If I could
Just see you
Tonight

And I, I
Don't want to let you know
I, I
Drown in your memory
I, I
Don't want to let this go
I, I
Don't....

Making my way downtown
Walking fast
Faces passed
And I'm home bound

Staring blankly ahead
Just making my way
Making a way
Through the crowd

I still need you
I still miss you
And now I wonder....

If I could fall
Into the sky
Do you think time
Would pass us by
'Cause you know I'd walk
A thousand miles
If I could
Just see you...

If I could fall
Into the sky
Do you think time
Would pass me by
'Cause you know I'd walk
A thousand miles
If I could
Just see you
If I could
Just hold you
Toniiiiiight!!

Do memories fade as time passes by? Do we at times forget to take the next step in fear of getting further from our starting point?

Schnaps

Today is Beerday... finally!!

So as a tribute I'm going to a real drinking song. "Schnaps" by Onkel Tom Angelripper has to be considered a classic.

While sung in German, the idea is easily translated. Very loosely translated, the character calls out for a schnapps just before he passes away. Ultimately, "Schnapps was his last word before the angels came to take him away". Hey, if you're gonna go, you might as well do it on your own terms and have drink on the way out.

I wonder if my last words might be "Grouse!!". Who knows... wonder if anyone would ever write a song about it?

Drive

Ever find at times that it is fear that causes you to react rather than simply act as you should? Ever think that it's fear that causes us to just join in and let the world take control of where we go, what we do, what we ultimately become?

"Drive" by Incubus tells of how it's about time you take control of things yourself. Ultimately you need to break away from the collective and take your own direction. After all, if life is a journey and not a destination, then surely you're wanting to take the long way home?

Sometimes, I feel the fear of uncertainty stinging clear
And I can't help but ask myself how much I let the fear
Take the wheel and steer
It's driven me before
And it seems to have a vague, haunting mass appeal
But lately I'm beginning to find that I
Should be the one behind the wheel

Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there
With open arms and open eyes yeah

Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there
I'll be there

So if I decide to waiver my chance to be one of the hive
Will I choose water over wine and hold my own and drive?
It's driven me before
And it seems to be the way that everyone else gets around
But lately I'm beginning to find that
When I drive myself my light is found

Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there
With open arms and open eyes yeah

Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there
I'll be there

Would you choose water over wine
Hold the wheel and drive

Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there
With open arms and open eyes yeah

Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there
I'll be there

What ever tomorrow brings, I'll take it on, and embrace it for it is my tomorrow.

I'm With You

Today's song is a somber track. It pretty much summed up a part of my life where I found myself often kind of replicating the music video - walking in the dark, cold and rain. Trying to make sense of a good many things (for the record, never got that right). I guess all I really wanted was someone to offer a hand, offer a little direction.

"I'm With You" by Avril Lavigne is one of waiting and wondering. Perhaps broken promises or eternal hope, the chill of being alone or the uneasiness of silence.

I'm standing on a bridge
I'm waiting in the dark
I thought that you'd be here by now
There's nothing but the rain
No footsteps on the ground
I'm listening but there's no sound

Isn't anyone tryin to find me?
Won't somebody come take me home
It's a damn cold night
Trying to figure out this life
Won't you take me by the hand
Take me somewhere new
I don't know who you are
But I... I'm with you
I'm with you

I'm looking for a place
I'm searching for a face
Is anybody here I know
'Cause nothing's going right
And everything's a mess
And no one likes to be alone

Isn't anyone trying to find me?
Won't somebody come take me home
It's a damn cold night
Trying to figure out this life
Won't you take me by the hand
Take me somewhere new
I don't know who you are
But I... I'm with you
I'm with you

Oh why is everything so confusing
Maybe I'm just out of my mind
Yea yea yea

It's a damn cold night
Trying to figure out this life
Won't you take me by the hand
Take me somewhere new
I don't know who you are
But I... I'm with you
I'm with you

Take me by the hand
Take me somewhere new
I don't know who you are
But I... I'm with you
I'm with you

Take me by the hand
Take me somewhere new
I don't know who you are
But I... I'm with you
I'm with you
I'm with you...

I'm not nearly as lost as I once was, but guess I'm now looking for the adventure. Someone to just reach out and say, "Let's go..."

Bohemian Rhapsody

Well, wearing my Animal t-shirt and a mate sends me a link to Bohemian Rhapsody. I couldn't really think of anything better for today than, "Bohemian Rhapsody" but done by the Muppets.

Everybody knows the Queen Version but as always, the Muppets just make me happy. A much happier version too mind you not to mention that this includes the greatest drummer ever! ;)

The Muppets like Sesame Street really should be every child's right!

Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide
No escape from reality
Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see
I'm just a poor boy (Poor boy)
I need no sympathy
Because I'm easy come, easy go
Little high, little low
Any way the wind blows
Doesn't really matter to me, to me

Mama?
Yeah, Mamma (gasp)
Mamma, Mamma, Mamma!
Hahah
Mamma, Mamma, Mamma,
Mamma, Mamma, Mamma,
Mamma, Yeah!
Mamma, Yohoo
Mamma, Yuhoo,
Mamma, Mamma,
Mamma, Mamma,
Dadda? Dadda!

I see a little silhouetto of a clam
Scaramouch, Scaramouch, will you do the Fandango
Thunderbolt and lightning, very, very frightening me
(Mimmimo) Galileo (Mimmimo) Galileo, Galileo Figaro
Mamamo-o-o-o-o
I'm just a poor boy nobody loves me
He's just a poor boy from a poor family
Spare him his life from this monstrosity, nam nam

Easy come, easy go, will you let me go?
Na! Na, Na na na na
Let me throw
Nam nam! We will not let you throw
Let me blow
Nam nam! We will not let you blow
Let me joke (Do not like your jokes)
Let me joke (Do not like your jokes)
Let me joke, ha ha ha
No, no, no, no, no, no, no
(Vernehy, vernhey) Mama Mia, let me go
Does anyone know if there is a part for me, for me, for me!

So they tell us this video's going to fly
All I know is we're not getting paid tonight
Oh, baby, can't do this to me, baby
Just gotta get out, just gotta get right outta here

[Guitar Solo]
(Oooh yeah, Oooh yeah)

Nothing really matters
Anyone can see
Nothing really matters
Nothing really matters (gasp) but moa

Any way the wind blows!

Haven't seen a clam just yet, but I enjoy the jokes.

Forever Young

This is a rather haunting track by Alphaville. "Forever Young" probes at that old point of if we're not going to live forever, at least let us enjoy the time we have as best we can.

For the most part I believe this song to have been written facing fears during the cold war. But as with many things this goes a good way to cover those wars we often fight internally. A bomb can be literal or figurative, leaving nothing but chaos and disarray.

Which then really begs the question, if you live forever would you really want to, bomb after bomb? Or would you quite simply opt for a shorter but more innocent, less painful existence?

Let's dance in style, let's dance for a while
Heaven can wait we're only watching the skies
Hoping for the best but expecting the worst
Are you gonna drop the bomb or not?

Let us die young or let us live forever
We don't have the power but we never say never
Sitting in a sandpit, life is a short trip
The music's for the sad man

Can you imagine when this race is won
Turn our golden faces into the sun
Praising our leaders we're getting in tune
The music's played by the, the madman

Forever young, I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever?
Forever, or never

Forever young, I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever?
Forever young

Some are like water, some are like the heat
Some are a melody and some are the beat
Sooner or later they all will be gone
Why don't they stay young?

It's so hard to get old without a cause
I don't want to perish like a fading rose
Youth like diamonds in the sun
And diamonds are forever

So many adventures couldn't happen today
So many songs we forgot to play
So many dreams are swinging out of the blue
We let 'em come true

Forever young, I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever?
Forever, or never

Forever young, I want to be forever young
Do you really want to live forever?
Forever, or never

Forever young, I wanna be forever young
Do you really want to live forever?

While the bones slowly get a little older and I'm not hoping to live forever, deep down, I'll be forever young.

London Bridge

Today's song is by a local band that seem to be doing all the right things. The Graeme Watkins Project are a band that really grow on you. While the studio version of "London Bridge" is getting a lot of radio play, it was the acoustic version I heard on The Expresso Show that really caught my attention.

This is another I'm not quite sure I get. From what I can tell it's more a story of a break up that's in the process of happening. I wonder if you really can live 2 very separate lives after a significant relationship?

I am the catalyst pumping my iron fist up to the sky
The stars are falling falling falling to the ground
I really must insist you hike up your new dress
And watch my eyes caress your thighs and then we roll around like this

Because
London bridge is burning down
Everyone from miles around
Dim the lights in china town for me
Stamp your feet upon the ground
Feel the ripples rippling down
From here to cincinnati

You are the catalyst
Thumping your iron fist
Against my chest
I guess i guess that's why i'm always second best
We'll split the earth into half for me half for you
And turn the ocean floor to glass and sit and watch as hours pass

Because
London bridge is burning down
Everyone from miles around
Dim the lights in china town for me
Stamp your feet upon the ground
Feel the ripples rippling down
From here to cincinnati

London bridge is burning down
Everyone from miles around
Dim the lights in china town for me
Stamp your feet upon the ground
Feel the ripples rippling down
From here to cincinnati
From here to cincinnati

Is half of the world really enough?

Two Princes

Today's song is inspired by a tweet and is another that takes me all the way back to school days. That's a long while back these days.

"Two Princes" by the Spin Doctors was one of those that got so much radio play during the 90's. Surprisingly they are still touring, wonder if they'll be releasing anything in the near future. Will it be as suitable for radio play?

I think this one's a pretty simple one to figure out. Choices, pick one or the other... In this case it would be marriage, but think that the points here are pretty much applicable to most things.

One, two, princes kneel before you
(that's what I said, now)
Princes, Princes who adore you
(Just go ahead, now)
One has diamonds in his pockets
(And that's some bread, now)
This one, said he wants to buy you rockets
(Ain't in his head, now)

This one, he got a princely racket
(That's what I said, now)
Got some big seal upon his jacket
(Ain't in his head, now)
You marry him, your father will condone you
(how bout that, now)
You marry me, your father will disown you
(he'll eat his hat, now)

Marry him or marry me,
I'm the one that loves you baby can't you see?
I ain't got no future or a family tree,
But I know what a prince and lover ought to be,
I know what a prince and lover ought to be....

Said, if you want to call me baby
(Just go ahead, now)
An' if you'd like to tell me maybe
(Just go ahead, now)
An' If you wanna buy me flowers
(Just go ahead, now)
And if you'd like to talk for hours
(Just go ahead, now)

Said, One, two, princes kneel before you
(that's what I said, now)
Princes, Princes who adore you
(Just go ahead, now)
One has diamonds in his pockets
(And that's some bread, now)
This one, he wants to buy you rockets
(Ain't in his head, now)

Marry him or marry me,
I'm the one that loves you baby can't you see?
I ain't got no future or a family tree,
But I know what a prince and lover ought to be,
I know what a prince and lover ought to be....

Said, if you want to call me baby
(Just go ahead, now)
An' if you'd like to tell me maybe
(Just go ahead, now)
If you wanna buy me flowers
(Just go ahead, now)
And if you'd like to talk for hours
(Just go ahead, now)
And if you want to call me baby
(Just go ahead, now)
An' if you'd like to tell me maybe
(Just go ahead, now)
If you'd like buy me flowers
(Just go ahead, now)
And if you'd like to talk for hours
(Just go ahead, now)

If you want to call me baby

(Just go ahead, now)

An' if you'd like to tell me maybe

(Just go ahead, now)

If you wanna buy me flowers

(Just go ahead, now)

And if you'd like to talk for hours

(Just go ahead, now)

ohh baby
(Just go ahead now)
ooh just just go ahead now
ooh your majesty,
(Just go head now)
come on forget the king and marry me
(Just go ahead now)
come on, come on, come on,
(Just go ahead now)
and go ahead now
yeah, just go ahead now
Yeah, If you want to buy me flowers
(Just go ahead now)
yeah just go ahead now baby

Sometimes we just have to make choices, be condoned or disowned mind you.

Trouble

Here's another terrible blast from the past. As I was going through some older stuff (from the 90's and 80's) I couldn't help but really chuckle at much of the stuff I found. So many one hit wonders, I wonder if that's any different now with radio and record companies being far more aggressive when promoting an artist. Then again, anyone remember Vanilla Ice? He even got his own movie!

Surprisingly, the band Shampoo the band are still going. "Trouble" would seem to have been their big break, but I've not heard much from them since. But it would seem that their sense of humor (they were influenced by those such as the Sex Pistols all the way through to Take that) would be on par with mine.

Uh-Oh, We're In Trouble,
Something's Come Along
And It's Burst Our Bubble
{Yeah, Yeah!} Uh-Oh,
We're In Trouble,
Gotta Get Home Quick
March On The Double!

We've Been Out All Night
And We Havn't Been Home,
We're Walkin' Through The Back Streets
...All Alone! The Party Was Great
Yeah, We Were Really Frilled!
And When We Get In
We're Gonna Get Killed!

Uh-Oh, We're In Trouble,
Something's Come Along
And It's Burst Our Bubble
{Yeah, Yeah!} Uh-Oh,
We're In Trouble,
Gotta Get Home Quick
March On The Double!

We Couldn't Get A Cab,
'Cause We Ain't Got No Money!
We Missed The Last Train
But We Thought....
Don't Worry!
We'd Get The Night Bus
But The Night Bus Never Came!
We're Eight Miles From Home
And It Started To.....

Uh-Oh, We're In Trouble,
Something's Come Along
And It's Burst Our Bubble
{Yeah, Yeah!} Uh-Oh,
We're In Trouble,
Gotta Get Home Quick
March On The Double!

Yeah Yeah, Trouble...

We Tried To Steal A Car
But We Soon Realized,
We Got On The Road
None Of Us Could Drive!
Police Car Came Along
And They Took Us For A Ride,
And When We Get Home
We're Gonna Get, Gonna Get
Gonna Get Fried!

Uh-Oh, We're In Trouble,
Something's Come Along
And It's Burst Our Bubble
{Yeah, Yeah!} Uh-Oh,
We're In Trouble,
Gotta Get Home Quick
March On The Double!

Uh-Oh We're In Trouble,
{Yeah Yeah!} Uh-Oh We're In Trouble....

Uh-Oh We're In Trouble,
Something's Come Along
And It's Burst Our Bubble!
{Yeah Yeah!} Uh-Oh We're In Trouble,
Book Us A Ticket On
The Next Space Shuttle!

Uh-Oh, We're In Trouble,
Something's Come Along
And It's Burst Our Bubble
{Yeah, Yeah!} Uh-Oh,
We're In Trouble,
Gotta Get Home Quick
March On The Double!

Uh-Oh, We're In Trouble,
Something's Come Along
And It's Burst Our Bubble
{Yeah, Yeah!} Uh-Oh,
We're In Trouble,
Gotta Get Home Quick
March On The Double!

Always amusing to be taken back to a time long ago. This takes me all the way back to high school. But no, it wasn't considered good back then either mind you.

Wild Thing

Oddly enough had a memory of the movie "Major League" this morning and with Charlie Sheen constantly winning I just couldn't pass this one up.

"Wild Thing" by the Troggs has to easily be their biggest hit. It's kinda cheesy, but then again everything from yesteryear seems to be somewhat cheesy.

Every once in a while we really do need to cut loose and go a little while. Suddenly seeing Animal pitching doesn't seem too far off of the mark.

Wild thing...you make my heart sing...
You make everything
Groovy
I said wild thing...
Wild thing, I think I love you
But I wanna know for sure
Come on, hold me tight
I love you
Wild thing...you make my heart sing...
You make everything
Groovy
I said wild thing...
Wild thing, I think you move me
But I wanna know for sure
So come on, hold me tight
You move me

Well... groovy is just a state of mind, right?

Bullet

This is a much more light hearted track. "Bullet" performed by Jessie James (and co-written with Katy Perry) is a more country pop song than anything else.

It's the line, "Be careful what you start". Rather wise words that, or as a friend of mine would say, "Don't write cheques that you butt can't cash!" Then again, nobody really got anywhere without sticking their neck on the line once in a while or simply starting something for the hell of it.

My mama warned me about boys like you
It's the reason I wear these high heeled boots
And let me give you a little piece of advice
My papa packs heat and he won't think twice
Well, why do you think they call me Jessie James?
Too much trouble, better stay away
Grab your hat, better get gone
But if you stay, you've been warned

I'm a bullet and I'm headed
Straight for your heart {yeah}
Be careful what you start
I'm a bullet and I'm headed
Straight for your heart {yeah}
It's gonna leave a mark
Be careful what you wish for
You get what you see
Is that a gun in your pocket
Or are you just happy to see me?
I'm a bullet and I'm headed
Straight for your heart {yeah}
Be careful what you start

Well, every now and then I make a man break a sweat
Watch him work overtime on my wristbands {yeah}
Cause I'm the kinda girl that you wanna show off
I'll tell 'em, all your friends with a southern drawl {yeah}
Well, why do you think they call me Jessie James?
Sweet as a peach, impossible to tame
Fingers on the trigger and you'll be to blame
Cause if you stay

I'm a bullet and I'm headed
Straight for your heart {yeah}
Be careful what you start
I'm a bullet and I'm headed
Straight for your heart {yeah}
It's gonna leave a mark
Be careful what you wish for
You get what you see
Is that a gun in your pocket
Or are you just happy to see me?
I'm a bullet and I'm headed
Straight for your heart {yeah}
Be careful what you start

Yeah, I'll ride where the wind wants to take me
Leaving lovers in the dust, every city
Cause my heart was like a ghost town baby
And now I met a man that brings me

My mama warned me about boys like you
Its the reason I wear these high heeled boots

I'm a bullet and I'm headed
Straight for your heart {yeah}
Be careful what you start
I'm a bullet and I'm headed
Straight for your heart {yeah}
It's gonna leave a mark

I'm a bullet baby
A bullet baby
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah
I'm a bullet baby
A bullet baby

Is that a gun in your pocket
Or are you just happy to see me?
I'm a bullet and I'm headed
Straight for your heart {yeah}
Be careful what you start

What, me trouble? Nah... I'm pretty sweet, honest.

When You Wish Upon a Star

Well, finally back at work after a false start yesterday. Seems my car decided that it simply didn't want to make the trip in.

So... HAPPY NEW YEAR all!

I had a great Christmas and New Year making up for a lot of stress leading up to this point. That said, you never really get one without the other it seems. Thanks to my other family for taking me in over this time, it truly was a great time.

I figured I'd start the year off on a cheery note, so today's song is from the Pinocchio sound track, although I do prefer the Gene Simmons version. Proving even the most hard core (or even wannabe's) have a soft spot. Today's song, "When You Wish Upon a Star", sums up much I've come to believe, keep wishing... dreams do come true.

When you wish upon a star
Makes no difference who you are
Anything your heart desires
Will come to you

If your heart is in your dream
No request is too extreme
When you wish upon a star
Like dreamers do

Fate is kind
She brings to those who love
The sweet fulfillment of
Their secret longing

Like a bolt out of the blue
Fate steps in and pulls you through
When you wish upon a star
Your dream comes true

Like a bolt out of the blue
Fate steps in and pulls you through
When you wish upon a star
Your dreams come true

Keep dreaming, keep wishing... eventually they'll come true.
