Ordinary World

Sticking with the theme of being ordinary I've included the Duran Duran track, "Ordinary World".  I think we all want to escape into that world which is ordinary at times.  Although I think somehow simply learning to survive isn't enough... what's a life that's simply ordinary?  No, think I'll settle easier knowing that I've done things a little less ordinary.

The chorus of this particular song is bitterly sad.  While seemly relating to the loss of a lover or simply a broken heart, it could really relate to just about anything, there's no doubt that the "won't cry for yesterday" relates to any loss of some kind.  I've heard a lot of people say that yesterday is gone, but it is those days lost that have helped shape us... by all means, cry if you need to but never settle for an ordinary world.

Came in from a rainy Thursday on the avenue,
Thought I heard you talking softly.
I turned on the lights, the TV and the radio,
Still I can't escape the ghost of you.
What has happened to it all?
"Crazy," some would say.
Where is the life that I recognize?
Gone away...

But I won't cry for yesterday, there's an ordinary world,
Somehow I have to find.
And as I try to make my way to the ordinary world,
I will learn to survive.

Passion or coincidence once prompted you to say:
"Pride will tear us both apart."
Well now pride's gone out the window, cross the rooftops, run away,
Left me in the vacuum of my heart.
What is happening to me?
"Crazy," some would say.
Where is my friend when I need you most?
Gone away...

But I won't cry for yesterday, there's an ordinary world,
Somehow I have to find.
And as I try to make my way to the ordinary world,
I will learn to survive.

(Ooh, Ahh, Ooh)

Papers in the roadside tell of suffering and greed.
Fear today, forgot tomorrow... ooh
Here beside the news of holy war and holy need,
Ours is just a little sorrowed talk, just blown away

And I won't cry for yesterday, there's an ordinary world,
Somehow I have to find.
And as I try to make my way to the ordinary world,
I will learn to survive.

(Everyone,..)
If My World...
Everyone...

Any world...
Is my world...
Every world...
Is our world...
Anyone.

Sometimes all we really want is that which is ordinary, although I'm not quite sure that'll suffice.  No, I'll keep on with a life that's less ordinary and a little more awesome.
