Until I'm Home

More of a soppy start to the morning. It was either this or Papa Roach - yes I'm most likely bipolar. Anyhow...

I saw a rather sweet statement somewhere that said: "If you lived to be 100 years old, I wish to live for 100 years minus a day, because I wouldn't want to live without you." Which brings me to today's song.

"Until I'm Home" by Nianell tells a tale of a lost one. Have you ever sat wishing for one more day, perhaps a last embrace or kiss? Sadly the nature of things is that everything will eventually pass and if we're unlucky enough, we're the ones left behind.

Listen, can you hear it,
there’s an angel whispering your name.
A new life has begun now,
but my love for you will stay the same

We were so lucky, to have known you even for a while.
Lucky, that you chose us,
that you’ve blessed us with your lovely smile

How I wish that I could see you once more,
how I long to hold you in my arms.

Stroke your hair before I kiss you gently,
lay you down to sleep just one more time.

I’ll hear your laughter I’ll remember how we
use to play and I’ll cherish the memory,
until I’m home with you one day.

Forgive me if I’m not strong,
it’s so hard to know I must go on,
but I know that I’m here now
and for now this is where I belong

And if I could hear you,
I imagine this is what you’ll say,
you’ll tell me not to worry,
to let go and know that you’re ok.

If I could have one more day I think I'd pass. What's lost is lost to somehow try to hang on would only make the loss to follow once again all that much worse. No, I think I'll wait until I too make it it home.

Blue Tattoo

Well... another strange one to add in on a Monday morning. I literally stumbled across this band, Vanilla Ninja. Described as a girl pop-rock band from Estonia there's something about them that I found to be enjoyable from the start.

The "Blue Tattoo" is one of those that quite simply points towards abuse. In this case it would seem to focus more on domestic violence.

This makes me wonder about the relationships we have with ourselves, our hopes and our dreams. Why is it that we feel the need at times to really attack those things that truly love us leaving them somewhat broken in need of healing? The marks left behind will they eventually heal? Or do they simply become a permanent scar of some sort?

Once upon a lifetime
The spirits of the dark
Came to kill the beauty
Of our world

Every soul was spell bound
And prisoned into ice
Just shining through
Sad as a blue tattoo

Tears have turned to ice
As a sacrifice
Broken voices rise
From the age of the ice
To the raging skies
And they exorcise
'Cos on judgement day
We must hide - we must fight - we must pray - hey
It's a blue tattoo

But the monks of mercy
They prayed for every soul
'Til the sword of fire
Took control

In a crash of thunder
The ice broke into two
And shining through
There was the blue tattoo

Monks:
You know
Down low
There's a light - it's a true - blue tattoo
Just go
Down low
Gotta hide now - gotta fight now -
Gotta save your soul and pray
Gotta break the ice away
Gotta find the true blue tattoo

How often do we beat down on the things that we truly love? Leaving them bruised and broken. Thankfully blue tattoo's can fade, and in time things can heal, all it needs is time and care.

What a Wonderful World

I was awake too early again this morning... But then the sun came out, blue skies, and I'm reminded just how wonderful the simple things really are.

"What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstong sums up some of the smallest yet most remarkable things that we'll ever know. Don't really need to add much more to that.

I see trees of green,
red roses too.
I see them bloom,
for me and you.
And I think to myself,
what a wonderful world.

I see skies of blue,
And clouds of white.
The bright blessed day,
The dark sacred night.
And I think to myself,
What a wonderful world.

The colors of the rainbow,
So pretty in the sky.
Are also on the faces,
Of people going by,
I see friends shaking hands.
Saying, "How do you do?"
They're really saying,
"I love you".

I hear babies cry,
I watch them grow,
They'll learn much more,
Than I'll ever know.
And I think to myself,
What a wonderful world.

Yes, I think to myself,
What a wonderful world.

Oh yeah

It really is a wonderful world match by a pretty wonderful life too.

These Days

Well the Foo Fighters are getting quite a bit of radio play with "These Days" at the moment.

As the saying goes, "Don't be reckless with other people's hearts; don't put up with people who are reckless with yours". Often I guess people are able to be reckless because they never really were that invested to begin with. I guess in time they may end up on the receiving end of this tale, then again perhaps not. As I once said to a friend of mine, "They'll never know how much that hurt because they'll never really know what love was."

One of these days the ground will drop out from beneath your feet
One of these days your heart will stop and play its final beat
One of these days the clocks will stop and time won't mean a thing
One of these days their bombs will drop and silence everything

But it's alright
Yeah it's alright
I said it's alright

Easy for you to say
Your heart has never been broken
Your pride has never been stolen
Not yet not yet

One of these days
I bet your heart'll be broken
I bet your pride'll be stolen
I bet I bet I bet I bet
One of these days
One of these days

One of these days your eyes will close and pray you'll disappear
One of these days you will forget to hope and learn to fear

But it's alright
Yeah it's alright
I said it's alright

Easy for you to say
Your heart has never been broken
Your pride has never been stolen
Not yet not yet

One of these days
I bet your heart'll be broken
I bet your pride'll be stolen
I bet I bet I bet I bet
One of these days
One of these days

But it's alright
Yeah it's alright
I said it's alright
Yes it's alright

Don't say it's alright
Don't say it's alright
Don't say it's alright

One of these days your heart will stop and play its final beat
But it's alright

Easy for you to say
Your heart has never been broken
Your pride has never been stolen
Not yet not yet

One of these days
I bet your heart will be broken
I bet your pride will be stolen
I bet I bet I bet I bet

One of these days
One of these days
One of these days

A classic case of while someone may have been in the same position as you, they'll never really know exactly how you feel, simply how it made them feel.

Postman Pat

Well... well... well...

Opened Facebook this morning and found someone wanting to know the words to the theme song for Postman Pat. So figured I would share this one this morning.

"Postman Pat", written by Bryan Daly, has to be one of those classics that we all grew up with. Heck, my brother still watches every chance he gets and I still find my self flicking through channels and lingering on this one. Nostalgia is a wonderful thing.

Postman Pat, Postman Pat,
Postman Pat and his black and white cat,
Early in the morning,
Just as day is dawning,
He picks up all the post bags in his van.
Postman Pat, Postman Pat,
Postman Pat and his black and white cat,
All the birds are singing,
And the day is just beginning,
Pat feels he's a really happy man.
Everybody knows, his bright red van,
All his friends will smile as he waves to greet them,
Maybe,
You can never be sure,
They'll be knock,
Ring,
Letters through your door,
Hay hay,
Postman Pat, Postman Pat,
Postman Pat and his black and white cat,
All the birds are singing,
And the day is just beginning,
Pat feels he's a really happy man,
Pat feels he's a really happy man,
Pat feels he's a really happy man

I have a black and white cat, but she's a Jasper and not a Jess.

Lord of the Rings

Busy searching through a few songs to "share" this morning and was reminded once again of Blind Guardian. These guys have taken tales and much like the bards of years ago, spun them into song.

"Lord of the Rings" is a song based on Tolkien's poem from the book by the same name. It tells the tale of just how heavy a burden that ring was. I have a replica of that ring, cast in silver that I wear most of the time. It too weighs heavy at times as it reminds me of what once was, then it makes me smile at other times as it reminds of how far I've come.

While I think this pretty much tells the tale, if you haven't heard the story of the "Lord of the Rings" then try to read it. I never liked Tolkien's style of writing but his stories are fantastic.

There are signs on the Ring
Which make me feel so down
There's one to enslave all Rings
To find them all in time
And drive them into darkness
Forever they'll be bound
Three for the Kings
Of the elves high in light
Nine to the mortals
Which cry

I'll keep the Ring full of sorrow
I'll keep the Ring till I die
I'll keep the Ring full of sorrow
I'll keep the Ring till I die

Slow down and I sail on the river
Slow down and I walk to the hill
Slow down and I sail on the river
Slow down and I walk to the hill

And there's no way out

Mordor
Mordor
Mordor

Dark land under Sauron's spell
Threatened a long time
Threatened a long time

Seven rings to the dwarfes
In their halls made of stone
Into the valley
I feel down (I feel down)
One ring to the dark lord's hand
Sitting on his throne
In a land so dark
Where I have to go

I'll keep the Ring
I'll keep the Ring
I'll keep the Ring
I'll keep the Ring
I'll keep the Ring
Till I die

Slow down and I sail on the river
Slow down and I walk to the hill
Slow down and I sail on the river
Slow down and I walk to the hill

Slow down and I sail on the river
Slow down and I walk to the hill
Slow down and I sail on the river
Slow down and I walk to the hill

Lord of the rings

Slowly we'll all get to where we're going, where we need to be. The burden will eventually be lifted and who ever that dark lord is, will be defeated.

To Where You Are

Dunno why as is so often the case I'm sitting with a song in my head. Think my life's soundtrack would be really interesting.

Thinking of those who have come and gone and ultimately those that never leave. somewhere in the dark they remain, keeping to the shadows, but always watching.

Today's song, "To Where You Are" by Josh Groban covers that point quite nicely. Hang onto the memories, remember the whys and who knows, perhaps they never really leave.

It was Yoda after all that said: “Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those around you who transform into the Force. Mourn them do not. Miss them do not. Attachment leads to jealously. The shadow of greed, that is.” If we learn to let go of all we fear to lose, can it ever be taken away from us? Or are we simply allowing the natural transformation of things?

Who can say for certain
Maybe you're still here
I feel you all around me
Your memory, so clear

Deep in the stillness
I can hear you speak
You're still an inspiration
Can it be (?)
That you are mine
Forever love
And you are watching over me from up above

Fly me up to where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for awhile to know you're there
A breath away not far
To where you are

Are you gently sleeping
Here inside my dream
And isn't faith believing
All power can't be seen

As my heart holds you
Just one beat away
I cherish all you gave me everyday
'Cause you are my
Forever love
Watching me from up above

And I believe
That angels breathe
And that love will live on and never leave

Fly me up
To where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for awhile
To know you're there
A breath away not far
To where you are

I know you're there
A breath away not far
To where you are

Even those that are no longer with us are simply a breath away.
